Taubman College faculty, including Kathy Velikov as co-principal investigator and Geoffrey Thün, are part of a multi-institution team developing a regional stormwater plan for Southeast Michigan. The plan combines nature-based solutions with grey infrastructure to reduce flooding and enhance biodiversity.
The work is funded by a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation National Coastal Resilience Fund grant of $499,300, with $500,000 in cost share, and runs from 2024 to 2026. Partners include Wayne State University, Michigan State University and LimnoTech.
"Stormwater flooding is a major threat to communities of Southeast Michigan," Velikov said.
